Welcome to Dog Fanciers Association of Oregon. If you live in the Portland area and like dogs you’ve come to the right place! The members of Dog Fanciers Association of Oregon (DFAO) have been holding dog shows for nearly 80 years in Portland, Oregon and like nothing more than sharing their passion about dogs with other dog lovers.
DFAO hosts some of the biggest and best dog shows in America. Each January thousands of canine aficionados with more than 3,500 dogs in tow, pour into Portland to compete at the Rose City Classic, a 5-day series of dog shows hosted by Dog Fanciers Association of Oregon with Tualatin Kennel Club, Portland Dog Obedience Club and numerous regional specialty clubs. The shows offer competition in conformation, obedience and agility.
Our shows have been held at the Portland Exposition Center since the late 1940’s making DFAO’s show one of Portland’s oldest and the Expo’s longest-standing event.
DFAO is a not-for-profit club and like other AKC dog clubs, we donate our profits to help dogs. We donate to veterinary scholarships, to shelters, to service dog organizations, to canine health foundations; and to groups that promote responsible dog ownership and the rights of responsible dog owners. We also provide information and referral services to the public so they can locate a breed and find a responsible dog breeder. Our members give dog training classes and they host microchip and canine health screening clinics. In short, our club members help the public enjoy their dogs and become more informed dog owners.
Dog Fanciers Association of Oregon is proud to be a member club of the American Kennel Club, the country’s premier purebred dog registry.
